A large part of why I love Acupuncture is because it is extremely adaptable and uniquely tailored to each individual, at that moment. We are constantly changing individuals, and so will be the diagnosis and treatment plan. I offer comprehensive treatments tailored to your unique situation, which will help your entire being shift back towards optimal health and wellness, resolving problems at their source.
Acupuncture is well known to influence special pathways (known as meridians) that have a therapeutic influence on the brain and nervous system. Acupuncture does this by altering brain wave states and releasing neurotransmitters and endorphins that are known to relieve pain as well as induce a relaxing and stress reducing effect on the body.
I always respect your body’s innate wisdom for the most effective path towards optimal wellness, by feeling your pulse and looking at your tongue. These diagnostic tools help me determine a unique and appropriate treatment plan. By using the holistic model of Acupuncture, each treatment focuses on the presenting symptoms, as well as the person’s unique constitution. The constitutional aspect of treatment is important because this is the connection to each individual’s inherent vitality. Treating this way provides relief at the deepest core level, and empowers your return to optimal health.

What Can Acupuncture Do For Me?
Acupuncture has been around for thousands of years, originating in China and now carried on internationally through the practice of Traditional Chinese Medicine. Its benefits are felt on multiple levels- mind, body, and spirit, which has earned Acupuncture an important role even in our modern society. Acupuncture is a deeply relaxing and transformative healing art; ancient wisdom of the energetic meridians flowing through our bodies serves as a powerful tool for accessing your body’s unique and innate ability to heal itself.
I use Chinese Medical wisdom to understand what your body is telling me it needs, in order to feel vibrantly healthy and optimally balanced. Inserting needles at specific points on meridians works directly with your energy to encourage a shift in the direction of balance, harmony, and healing. Acupuncture treatment planning is adapted to your own unique constitution, and each treatment is different, which makes it an incredibly transformative process- every treatment bringing you a step further on your path to optimal wellness.
I want everyone to get the chance to experience this profound energetic process. I believe Acupuncture helps us align with our core self, optimizing our power for positive change. I know this to be true in my own life, and I have seen it’s benefit in some many people’s lives. I love what I do, and feel honored to be a part of so many unique individual’s life experience, while working with them to attain their wellness goals.
Many people are confused or or under informed about the practice, application, and effects that Acupuncture can have. I frequently meet people who want to know if Acupuncture could be beneficial for their particular complaint. I would like to clarify that Acupuncture should not be labeled as being effective only at certain things. Acupuncture is a healing modality based on your body’s own unique wisdom, and is an art form of accurate diagnosis and appropriate treatment planning.
Certainly it is more successful in some cases than others, it is famous for pain relief, and has the pleasant effect of deep relaxation regardless of what is being treated. Additionally, any practitioner should be skilled enough to read your pulses, look at your tongue, and understand what points need to be chosen in order to open energetic blocks, improve energy flow, and restore balance and harmony throughout your entire being. Acupuncture is a profound experience because it is direct energetic work that you can feel happening immediately.
Many of us unconsciously carry stress that is detrimental to our health, whether it is tense muscles, migraines, insomnia, irritability, digestive disorders, or countless other ways that are blocking energy flow through the meridians. These blocks result in stagnation, compounding the initial problem, and possibly creating more problems.
After feeling your pulses and looking at your tongue, Acupuncture needles are inserted in points suited to your exact needs at that moment, based on what your body is communicating it needs. These points are direct communication with the energetic meridians flowing through your body, and they encourage your body’s own intuitive healing power to shift in a direction for positive transformation and therapeutic healing.
Acupuncture Treatment – What Is It Like?
At your comprehensive treatment, I will start the session with a brief interview, to give you a chance to communicate any questions, concerns, needs, goals, and expectations. I will have you lay on the massage table in comfortable clothing, while I feel your pulses and take a quick look at your tongue. Chinese Medical diagnosis is based on feeling the radial pulse on both wrists. In addition to noting the overall quality and rate of the pulse, I use three fingers to feel three positions on each side. I press deeper to feel a second level at each position.
This allows me to feel six distinct and different qualities of the pulse on each wrist, for a total of twelve positions. These twelve positions reflect the relative balance of energy flow in the twelve main meridians, (Lung, Large Intestine, Stomach, Spleen, Heart, Small Intestine, Urinary Bladder, Kidney, Pericardium, San Jiao, Gall Bladder, Liver) and can even reflect the vitality of the organ associated with each meridian.
Tongue diagnosis serves as a way to gain understanding as to the relative internal state of your body- is there heat, cold, dryness, dampness, phlegm, etc. After talking with you about what I’ve found and how it relates to your symptoms and life experience, I will plan a treatment with points that would be beneficial for you: opening energetic blocks, boosting the vitality of internal organs, and bringing deep healing to body, mind, and spirit.
While you retain the needles for approximately 30 minutes, I will use a system called Acutonics to harmonize your treatment even further. Acutonics is a form of vibrational sound healing, in which tuning forks resonating at cosmic frequencies are used on Acupuncture points, encouraging the points to resonate with the therapeutic and beneficial frequency being introduced.
These form of vibrational sound healing is a way to channel the power of sound healing into a form that is specifically complimentary to Acupuncture. I love using the tuning forks as they are very intuitive. My favorite frequency to use is the frequency of Ohm; most people find this deeply relaxing, restorative, and meditative. I find that the tuning forks enhance and expedite the work that the needles have already begun.
The second half of your treatment will be face down- I often do some points on the back, as well as use a vibrational tool to physically release any tension still held in the tissues, allowing your muscles to relax back into position, and your spinal vertebrae will naturally find their perfect alignment.
I finish the treatment with a Chinese Medical tradition- the art of cupping. After some light massage, I use smooth edged glass cups to further release any stagnation that may still be lingering. Cupping affects not only the muscles but the connective tissue as well, and can release fascial adhesions.
Chinese medicine recognizes that there are points along the entire spine that correspond to the internal organs, and using the cups helps to tonify the internal organs, while also releasing adhesions in the fascia and tension in the muscles. Most people can feel that cupping reaches a deeper level than massage. I have yet to meet someone who didn’t like cupping- they love how they can feel an immediate difference after the treatment.
Afraid of Needles…?
I can’t count how many times I have met people who resisted trying Acupuncture for fear of needles and pain. Based on feedback from those that were brave enough to go beyond their fear of needles, I can tell you that the benefit you will receive from Acupuncture treatment will far outweigh any initial fear you may have. Not to mention, the pain people assume goes with needle insertion, simply isn’t what they have worked it up to be in their mind.
